Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

My name is Wedam Asobayire, currently a third year student pursuing bachelor of medicine and surgery degree (MBCHB) at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, Ghana. I got selected to be part of the Educational Pathways International (EPI) family in 2023 and this was the point I truly begun counting my blessings. First of all, I come from a background where my parents weren’t so interested in my education and personal development in general. Unfortunately, both of them are deceased now. Despite their neglect at a very young age (primary 3), my desire and passion for academic excellence never quenched, upon realizing the shortcomings of my parents I strived to become a better person in the future capable of positively impacting the younger generation after me and others who may be in such situation.
Thankfully, with support from some well-wishers and loved ones I managed to complete Junior and Senior high school even though the process was long and slow I finished. The next move was to pursue my dream career, that was to become a doctor but this was only a dream because the reality before me then, showed this career path was impossible due to the financial constraints. Upon reaching out to people in my community for support, none turned fruitful so I decided to give myself time to personally organize resources, this led me to teach lessons in private schools, homes etc. I also worked in hotels and social centers at some point, all in an attempt to organize resources to pursue my dream career in medicine. After five (5) years, I was able to organize resources to just put me back in school, but my headache was that, it wasn’t adequate to keep me in school, but as stubborn as my passion was for medicine I decided to apply that year and start my journey, thankfully my application got accepted and I had admission. I reported to school both excited and anxious because I feared I was going to drop out very soon.
To cut the story short I saw the EPI scholarship advertisement on the university website and I applied and by God’s grace I got selected for the scholarship. I want to therefore use this opportunity to thank EPI for the scholarship opportunity they offer bright students but financially handicapped. EPI scholarship has been one of the best things that have happened to me, with the blink of an eye my life had completely change to someone who is more confident and optimistic about the future. EPI has also created a community of like-minded people from different backgrounds having great ideas of becoming leaders of tomorrow like myself, the interactions amongst us is wonderful and it makes me happier about the future.
EPI also organizes monthly coaching, counselling, and personal development seminars for beneficiaries of their scholarship and through these seminars I can see and feel the transformation I am undergoing, I am always becoming better every day both in academics and my social life on campus.
Finally, my dream of becoming a doctor has become a reality with great thanks to EPI scholarship, I can now aim at my ultimate goal of becoming an oncologist in the future to help treat and prevent cancers in underserved communities like the northern part of Ghana and also contribute meaningfully to the lives of young brilliant individuals from backgrounds such as mine in order to change the narrative. A special thanks once again to the EPI family for this wonderfully opportunity. #long live EPI#.
