At Open Buffalo for the past 4 years we have incorporated the EXPRESS IT book as much as we can with our Youth Program- Youth Action. We fell in love with the basic Black and White design that allows the participant to "express" themselves with what ever color, method, picture or drawing, wording, or whatever comes to their hearts. We have enjoyed this tool so much that it is now a method to get new young folks to open up and talk about what they are facing in this world. Specifically in 2024 until now, we are working with a population of young folks that have been directly impacted by gun violence. At times, it is very challenging to ask any of them to share what is going on in their heads or unpack an incident that happened recently, thus the EXPRESS IT book comes in handy because now the ability share your feelings at own your pace and with your energy.
