My Nonprofit Reviews

I had the privilege of being a volunteer with Save The Whales and to say that it was a truly rewarding experience would be an understatement. I deeply respect every person involved in this organization, especially Maris Sidenstecker who has a pure heart of gold; her passion for helping others truly comes across in the best way possible. I directly worked with Amanda Good as well and I got to see her magic when it comes to working with kids. Amanda is amazing at fostering children’s curiosity and aptitude for saving the planet. The encouragement and motivational talk she gives them to not give up on their dreams will impact and inspire them forever, and they will always remember how she made them feel. I won’t ever forget this and will personally continue to make these same efforts with children, encouraging them to pursue their dreams no matter what.

This organization believes that children, the future of the planet, need to be empowered and know that their actions can promote change. Education is the key to saving whales, oceans, and ourselves. This was a theme for every event I had the privilege of taking part in. Some of the thing I was able to do was label non-toxic products at Home Depot to discourage the use of harmful pesticides, put "No Dumping" emblems on storm drains, beach field trips with elementary children and educate about the ocean, and events like CA Wildlife Day and Whale Fest where I got to educate them about steps we can take to not pollute the planet.

Being a part of Save The Whales has been one of the biggest highlights of my undergraduate experience and I am beyond grateful for every opportunity, memory, and conversation I have had while volunteering for them. I feel that I have made meaningful contributions to what they believe in and strive for. I feel as though you should dedicate your time to efforts you feel are worthwhile, and this is one that I will continue to always support even after I am no longer a volunteer through them.
