My name is John, and I am 22 years old. I sustained a complete T4 spinal cord injury after an accident in February 2022. Since then, I’ve been working toward my dream of becoming an elite para athlete, and thanks to the High Fives Foundation and their Empowerment Grant, that dream is becoming a reality.

The application process for the grant was straightforward and easy to navigate, which made the experience even better. High Fives truly takes the time to understand each athlete’s journey and provide the support needed to help us succeed. Their generosity has given me access to the resources and opportunities I need to train, compete, and continue pushing my limits.

I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication to adaptive athletes and for helping me take the next step in my journey. Organizations like High Fives make a real difference in the lives of so many, and I’m proud to be a part of their community!
