Review for Journalism And Women Symposium, Grandville, MI, USA
JAWS is a valuable connector of writers and reporters of many generations, with a growing base of younger members who teach others the intricacies of social media networking techniques. It also offers techno workshops for members in sessions across the country to raise the skills of journalists in this very difficult transition. And it is a formidable force for networking, which remains important decades after the lawsuits have been resolved seeking to get more women in the door.
It also goes well beyond the mega-white girls in drawing in reporters and editors of different races and ethnicities -- never enough but enough so that it seems natural and is a base to build on.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
It helps in networking, it enables veterans to mentor younguns -- and vice versa.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
keep up the regional techno workshops, perhaps on editorial writing (since that's the current gap in terms of women's opinions, women's voices.)
