I retired from the Palm Beach School District with 30 years of service. I worked in the classrooms for 6 years before becoming an Administrative Assistant to the principal. Even though I loved working for the principal, I enjoyed working in the classrooms with the students. Some students did not have the same "home environment" as the others. They didn't have a snack or even nice school clothes.

Best Foot Forward was introduced to me by a friend. I loved it the first day I volunteered. We start the school year off with a backpack full of school supplies. They also have school uniform clothing donated. The students can pick up their new uniforms during the Welcome Back to School party. They have coaches who work with specific students, ensuring students have what they need. Volunteers wrap birthday gifts and fill out birthday cards for each student. We fill baskets with food at Thanksgiving. We shop for and wrap presents for each student’s "wish list" during the winter holidays. We help decorate for the party, bake cookies, and help with the clean-up. These are just some of the things we do.

I love volunteering there. The staff are friendly and so appreciative of all we do. The volunteers are nice too. Everyone helps everyone. Best Foot Forward is a wonderful organization for which to volunteer! Donations help the students who need our help. These students go on to graduate and some attend college. This is why I volunteer at Best Foot Forward. BFF makes a difference!
