I loved doing outreach presentations at elementary schools in South Monterey County, CA with the watershed presentations, Dee, the life-sized whale model, and school garden days. A lot of the kids had good questions and my favorite memory was when we went to a school in Gonzales, CA and a little girl came up to Amanda and I and said she wanted to learn more about ocean conservation so she can study it in the future. She also asked how to keep being involved. Additionally, a lot of kids love seeing Dee. Lastly, the garden days that I've participated in with STW have been really fulfilling. It's not just students and parents, it's a community thing and it was super nice to see them all be involved in planting veggies and other native plants and wanting to learn about alternatives to pesticides. Many parents said that they want to get their kids outside as opposed to keeping them inside where they just pass the day away playing on their tablets or watching TV.
