I attended Baker Industries gala this year and heard about the incredible work they are doing in providing work and work experience to people with disabilities and for people who are coming out of prison. On the following Monday, I was invited to visit the Baker facility on I Street in Philadelphia. There I saw people engaged in work. People were enthusiastic about their work and about demonstrating what they were doing for visitors. I learned about what Baker does to insure that, by the time people leave Baker Industries, they are equipped to take jobs in other businesses. Baker also works with employers to help find work and help people make the transition from Baker to for profit business. I am very impressed with the quality of Baker's work and with the overwhelming importance that work has for the populations it serves.
