I feel most fortunate to have been volunteering with refugee families since the year 2016. During the years of 2020 to 2024, I was a Family Mentor volunteer with Soccer Without Borders in Baltimore. Because of SWB, I have had the opportunity to serve and learn from many refugee families from across the globe. I have seen youth thrive in an atmosphere filled with love and unwavering support from SWB coaches. They have a place where they can learn, grow, and feel connected to a community. An SWB alumni youth once said to me that SWB is the reason she was able to understand, learn, and become the person she is today. SWB makes a huge impact and a positive difference in refugee youths’ lives.
