My Nonprofit Reviews

I've been volunteering with SWB Maryland since 2020 and the experience has been fantastic. Competing and improving our skills on the field is the fun part, but I've found that soccer is merely the vehicle that allows these newcomer youth to connect with each other, develop a sense of community, and feel at home here in a new city. The staff, coaches, and other volunteers are compassionate and incredibly dedicated to the participants and SWB's mission. SWB's trauma-informed approach allows a safe space for kids to develop not only their soccer and English language skills, but also their confidence and sense of self worth. I also really appreciate their focus on gender equity because there is space for everyone on the field. It's been a joy for me to be welcomed into this community and watch these kids grow into energetic, thoughtful, compassionate young adults. I've been so grateful for the opportunity to serve my community through SWB and look forward to many more great experiences with SWB in the future!
