I think my first contribution to the World Parrot Trust was decades ago to support rescue of Goffin's cockatoos (Tanimbar correllas) that had been trapped in Indonesia. I had a pair of Goffin's and appreciated their incredible intellect and was glad to help. (I still have the same birds and have had them for more than 40 years.) Since then, I have learned more about the WPT and their efforts on behalf of parrots around the world and I have been a regular donor for many years. During the COVID-19 shut down the WPT sponsored Zoom meetings with many of the people around the world that they support and I came to appreciate their dedication and the breadth of their efforts. Another thing that I came to appreciate is that the WPT is a very lean organization. When you support WPT, your money supports people that love parrots and that don't mind tramping through rain forests, getting dirty, getting bitten by mosquitos, etc.--no cushy corner offices in high rises. Another aspect of the WPT is that they support research on parrots (numbers, distributions, etc.) that is important to parrot conservation and, importantly, this contributes to the next generation of experts that can contribute to future conservation efforts. I consider WPT to be the preeminent organization supporting parrot conservation and I am very pleased to support them
