One of the very special roles of Blanca’s House is that we not only provide international medical missions for underserved populations, but we also have a commitment to be an integral part of the Long Island Community where we are based.
As a volunteer ad Board Member for over a decade, I have seen this commitment grow over the years into a variety of events for our long Island neighbors …. complete Thanksgiving Dinners at two locations and individual pick-up dinners for families large and small, warm coats for the winter, toys for children and adopting families for the holidays. Over the years we have been able to make the start of the holiday season brighter for hundreds and hundreds of families. What is a little disappointing is that due to this exponential growth, we have come to rely more and more on donors and supporters for their assistance with food, toys, clothing, and supplies. I am proud of what we have accomplished at home and abroad. My wish is through the generosity of others, what we do to make a difference will continue for quite a while to come.
