Review for The Oral Cancer Foundation, Santa Fe, NM, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When I was diagnosed with Head & Neck Cancer in 2007, it was a devastating, humbling experience. OCF has helped me over the past two years by providing timely information and peer support. I, in turn, have attempted to help others through the ordeal from which I have now emerged. While there are many cancer support organizations online, this one is particularly good at providing current, unbiased information, and the owners/participants are almost universally sensitive and on point in their comments/suggestions. Taken as a whole, this is a wonderfully comprehensive experience for a cancer type that receives little publicity, but is among the most devastating in terms of the short and long term impacts of treatment, and a significant mortality percentage.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way I was able to approach my own cancer treatment, make educated choices, and continue to receive valuable input as I progress through the long term effects of treatment and survival.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

solicit more direct involvement from medical professionals in the field.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the caring, knowledgable people who contribute to the site.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind, knowledgable and committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

publicize the public health dangers more effectively, contribute to early detection and treatment, and have more robust features.

Ways to make it better...

the search tools were more refined and intiutive.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The lack of public knowledge and interest in Head & Neck Cancer.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Brian and his administrators are to be commended for their commitment and vision.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
