I became aware of World Parrot Trust as I was searching for information on our companion parrots (budgerigars). I found the informational resources stewarded by the WPT to be engaging and incredibly helpful for me to understand and have a deeper experience with my companion parrots.

As luck would have it, the cover of their calendar for that year was a group of budgerigars enjoying their natural habitat in Australia and of course I bought it. Their merchandise, which supports the mission, is top notch quality. The one time I ran into trouble with an order, they quickly and rapidly made things right.

Over time WPT educated me on the needs of the parrots in the wild who do not have a dotting human to care for them or are in jeopardy due to the wild pet trade. I was educated on their amazing efforts at the Kiwa center to help a group of large parrots who’d been improperly cared for, resulting in health issues. This education was largely via newsletters and social media presence. I also look forward to the regular delivery of the PsittaScene magazine.

Every year as I prepare my annual contributions the WPT is, and will be, at the top of my donations list due to the resources they make available to the parrot loving community they shepherd.
