As a poetry teacher, Get Lit Words Ignite revolutionized the way I teach and view poetry. Before using this program, I often found it challenging to make poetry feel accessible and exciting for my students. Get Lit breathed new life into my classroom. By blending classic poetry with spoken word, this program made poetry come alive in a way that is dynamic, interactive, and deeply personal for my students.

One of the most powerful aspects of Get Lit is its ability to bridge the gap between traditional literature and modern expression. Students connect with classic poems on a deeper level because they are encouraged to write their own responses through the lens of their own experiences. For many years my school has sent a team to the Get Lit Classic Slam competition, and brought our students as spectators. Watching their peers perform and seeing students from other schools interpret poems from the same anthology they used in class was yet another incredible way for them to experience poetry and spoken word. The energy in the room was electrifying, and the exposure to so many different voices, styles, and interpretations added even more layers of depth to how my students understand and appreciate poetry.
