My daughter participated in the Get Lit program for four years, in high school. It was transformational. She grew so much - it improved her academics but she also grew as a person. She found her voice and an incredible outlet to express herself creatively. So much so, that she is majoring in Creative Writing at a top college on the East Coast. I have watched so many of her peers and other young people find their voice by participating in Get Lit. This program gives young people a sense of agency. It provides them with a powerful mechanism to turn their challenges into beautify art that impacts others. I am attaching a video of my daughter performing at the finals of the Get Lit Classic Slam this past year.
