Upon retirement, following many years of working in humanitarian aid, we decided to turn our efforts to the conservation of the 'big cats'. With our modest resources, we were hoping to identify organizations for which we might make a difference, and after researching on-line we came across the Mongolia-based Snow Leopard Conservation Foundation (SLCF) - a member organization of the Snow Leopard Trust. Both organizations have been highly open, informative and impressive. They not only work to protect snow leopards in their known habitats, but collaborate closely with local communities to devise novel ways of encouraging co-existence, as well as fostering greater scientific knowledge on which to base their conservation efforts.
