THE GBF has been a huge blessing to our family as I have transitioned out of the Army. My Veteran Services Officer (VSO) took the time to come meet with me in person at a time and place that was easy and convenient for me. She patiently answered tons of questions and shared the wisdom and experience that she's gained from her family's experience during transition and from the other Service members the GBF has helped on their journey. We started conversing about a year out from my retirement date, and she continued checking in with me throughout the process.
My VSO also helped me dig through 500+ pages of my medical records, then helped me compile, prepare, and submit my VA claim. She kept me updated as to its progress and completion by the VA. After I got my VA rating decision, she took the time to answer my questions about what some of the verbiage meant and what other benefits and options I might want to look into. She’s continued to be available and stay in touch and continues to be a blessing by sharing the wisdom and experience she’s and the GBF have gained as they help our community. I HIGHLY recommend any GB I know that is transitioning out of the Army to get connected with the GBF early in their transition process so that they can benefit like I and my family have.
