Review for The Jazz Gallery, New York, NY, USA
It's no exaggeration to say that the NYC music scene would be a different animal if not for the presence of the Jazz Gallery over the past two decades. I've seen it grow from a small venue to a central hub for the creative music scene. The programming combines legends of the music such as Henry Threadgill and Kenny Barron with mid career artists trying out new projects and most importantly, young artists who are just finding their way. The relatively new and expanded space has increased the options for performers and comfortability for audience members. There is no other place like it - an essential stop on anyone's visit to NYC to see creative music.
Review for The Jazz Gallery, New York, NY, USA
The Jazz Gallery is unique in New York City, for its dedication to the presentation of creative music. The Gallery has supported my music and many of my friends for years, and is truly the fountainhead that nourishes an entire music scene, by providing a venue to present and share ideas and sounds. Because of the Nonprofit nature of the venue, there are no distractions in the form of a Bar, a Restaurant, or undue focus on the bottom line. This allows music to flow and exist in an open atmosphere, where the audience can interact in an intimate setting, and everyone can be a part of the experience of creation.
