I recently went to Cambodia on my first trip with Youthlinc. I loved every second of this trip. When people would ask me what was my favorite part or to tell them about it I struggled to come up with words that would describe it all. I still struggle to do that! What I have been able to tell people is that you will not be the same person once you do a trip like this, service years are not about us at all. They are about the lives you are going to change and benefit in another country. But you do learn a thing or two about yourself along the way. In Cambodia they live a really hard life but do they know that absolutely not, but are they so happy and grateful for all that they have? YES they are. Did they welcome us into their village and homes with open arms yes they did. In just five days we did so much to improve the lives of many in this village we also built bond that will never be broken and faces that will never leave our minds. Pictures can tell a story but if you ask any one of us about a picture or someone from the village we will go on for a while about them. The people in my team as well as in Cambodia changed my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of them. They are often my "why" or motivation when something is "hard". I tell their stories and show their faces to make more people aware and wanting to help. Youthlinc is unlike any other program that does this. It truly is all about the people in country and I love that. We are doing this to make a change and its a change you can see so quickly.
