I was a NICA athlete in the early days of this organization back in 2009. Though I'm sure it has continued to grow and adapt over the years since I was racing, I look back on my time as a NICA athlete with tremendous pride and satisfaction. Having spent many years on competitive soccer teams, I was surprised to find a profound sense of community among athletes, coaches, parents, and NICA volunteers -- even amidst a sport which centers individual achievement on the bike. Not only that, NICA taught me SO much about my own sense of independence, adventure, environmental responsibility, and enduring confidence in my body & it's capabilities. It thrills me to see how many athletes and families have come after me and have been similarly impacted by this organization. 5 stars for NICA!!!
