Review for Grist Magazine, Inc., Seattle, WA, USA
I enjoy reading grist because it gives me different perspectives on topics that effect our society and the world. It lets me interact with information about factors that effect agriculture in a way that I can use to expand my personal practice of family based agriculture and rasing my own food.
Grist gives me a balance to the other sources of media I use to get information (Orion, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, Fox, CNN) so that I can look at a cross section of how our society is viewing topics.
Grist researches topics thouroughly and reports consicely. At times I wish that the articles were longer and provided more details and information, rather than having us look at more than one short article. At times the single short articles are thought provoking and provide a starting point for discussion for students in my biology, agriculture and environmental science classes. Grist is a tool that can be used to get students to critically think about media information in the world and be able to defend their point of view critically because they are learning to think critically.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I use articles from grist to point out general ideas and trends in science and agriculture.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Have articles archived and indexed in a way that they can be easily accessed to show trends in the different areas covered by grist. It would make Grist easier to cite and to use in educating the public, and in self eduction.
