I have known Dr Richard Seidman and his good wife Julie for the past 10 years and we've been good friends. We often meet and our topic of discussion is all about what best we could do for Taveuni in terms of public health, animal welfare, etc. This amazing couple are involved with social welfare work in the communities on a daily basis. To see their passion and energy in itself is a wonder.

I work as a Health Inspector in Taveuni and one of our challenges has always been dealing with the issue of stray dogs. There are several confirmed cases of Leptospirosis reported from communities around Taveuni and the other nearby islands that falls under our work jurisdiction each year. Therefore, Julie and her team from Taveuni Animal Lovers through their many community clinics have reduced the number of stray dogs and has created greater awareness amongst the people residing here. I have also been a client to them for my pet dog at home. They deal with everyone in such a respectful and friendly manner. At my workplace, few years ago 2 female puppies were left by someone. Somehow, they came to Julie's attention and she started feeding them at least 4 times a week. She also got them spayed. Unfortunately, one died a little later and the other one, named Oreo by Julie because she is white with black patches. I always see Oreo getting excited and running as soon as she hears the engine sound of Julie's car. That's how good Julie is with her work.

I always standby ready to assist any work carried out by Richard and Julie. They are just amazing and genuinely compassionate towards animal welfare. I applaud their tremendous effort and contributions with this great work in the communities and I sincerely request and urge everyone to support their noble cause in whatever way they could.
