I have been a board member with the Wisconsin Micro Finance for over 10 years. It has been a great place to volunteer. I have had the unique opportunity to visit loan recipients several times on two different islands in the Philippines. My visits have been memorable and inspiring. Several of the loan recipients commented that the chance they have had with us to receive a loan would never occurred with any institution in their homeplace. They simply were too poor. Seeing first-hand the impact of a microloan was enlightening and increased my interest to try to do more. This is grass roots work and we have strong partners in each of the countries we serve.
