Review for College of Adaptive Arts, Saratoga, CA, USA
CAA is a magical place. Simple as that. It is a home for adults with differing abilities, who often do not find welcoming and inclusive spaces, especially after leaving K-12 education. Offering a college experience to this sector of the population elevates us all, and these students have an important perspective to offer society. I have the honor of teaching Movement Meditation at CAA, and the conversations we have in that class about mental health and wellbeing are profound. Students share their own experiences with mental health, and demonstrate a deep understanding and intuitive wisdom regarding this topic. If it weren't for CAA, these students would likely not have the opportunity to share, support each other, and learn from each other. Whether it's mental health or practical math or still life drawing classes, CAA offers high level education to students of all backgrounds, and celebrates their abilities in the process. This college provides the model for lifelong education and employee development for adults with disabilities, and I am excited to see this model spread across the U.S. and beyond.
