My 12 year old went to space camp for a week with VASFA and had an amazing time. It was his first time away from home, and I was very nervous about how he'd do, given he has a condition that requires him to take several medications throughout the day. It was so reassuring to hear from the camp director before camp started that this wouldn't be an issue, and at drop off, "Doc" was not at all fazed by the large bag and med card. My son came home with a plastic cup and noted that someone went and bought that for him to use to take his meds because he couldn't use the water bottle for it. It was so kind of the staff to get him a cup so he'd be comfortable. His counselor even helped him make his bed because he couldn't figure out how to get the fitted sheet to work!

My son has struggled with his self confidence in academics since the pandemic and I think this week helped him see that he is capable of more than he may think he is.
