REEF has helped me to learn fish ID in these survey regions: Tropical Western Atlantic, Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean, Pacific (US west coast), Indian Ocean, Hawaii, and the Indo Pacific. Not quite the whole world, but big chunks of it. Because they lead trips, give webinars, and review your survey data (and help sort observations), they have motivated me to learn and to contribute to their worldwide database. It feels great to contribute to their citizen (and professional) science efforts, especially when my observations are for a new location or that extend the range or frequency of a species.
