My daughter was diagnosed at the age of 8 with cancer. She was deemed cancer free a year later, after much chemo and a partial amputation of her leg. Fast forward 9 years, and she was accepted into a university that she really wanted to go to and made the grades to pay for tuition. Still dealing with chemo side effects and 6 prosthetic legs later, we were still battling medical bills. We had no idea how we would pay for housing but knew there was no way to tell this child we couldn’t pay for it. This is when Myla’s Beleaf stepped in and provided money for a large portion of her housing costs for the first semester.
I was amazed by there love, support, and willingness to help us with the unimaginable. We have since been a part of the Myla’s Beleaf family and will forever be grateful for their support. Just because the cancer was gone, did not mean all the stress, pain, and heart ache was also gone. These kids get put back into the world after a traumatic time and they aren’t just okay all of a sudden. As Lauren says, “I have to put my leg on every single morning and I am not all of a sudden ok”.
Myla’s Beleaf understood and were there when Lauren and our family had almost lost hope! I would give 100 stars if I could! Love them so much!!
