Gerdas Equine Rescue received and accepted a request take two owner surrendered horses (Pooh Bear and Rio) who have lived their lives as bonded pair for 20 years.

Their desperate owner had fallen on hard times due to age, health, and financial inablity to care for her beloved horses.

Not being a sanctuary, but as a small 501c3 rescue, that saves,trains and rehomes at risk horses, we knew it would be difficult to find a home for two older full size horses. Horses who needed a retirement home with a promise of keeping them together until their death. And that's where Elaine Nash and her Fleet of Angels stepped in and orchestrated a new, safe life for the horses!

We will never forget the enormous effort that Elaine made to ensure the very best future for these horses.
And in doing so, she enabled us to help another pair of horses who just like PoohBear and Rio are deeply bonded, mainly because one is blind and depends on its friend completely his security.

I have always admired the work of Fleet of Angels, but this experience has brought that to a new level. "Thank You" hardly coves my gratitude, but it's all I know to say.
