Dear Fleet of Angels and your wonderful Donors and Supporters

We at Resilient Reins Equine Rescue and our Equines are so very thankful for being chosen as a recipient of your Emergency Disaster Relief Grant due to the tumultuous effects of the Thompson Fire in Oroville Ca., which started on July 2,2024.
Our small but mighty Equine Rescue is sanctuary to 30 Horses Ponies a mini Donkey and two pot belly pigs.
On July 2 when the Thompson Fire began it directly threatened the pasture where we keep our senior and special needs equines. We evacuated 15 horses and two pot belly pigs.
Three homes were lost on our street and the devastation was so close to home.
We were able to evacauate but did end up losing one senior 30+ year old sanctuaried gelding named Bonanza due to complications of extreme duress, stress fatigue, heat exhaustion as temperatures in Oroville Ca the day of the fire were near 115 degrees.
Several other senior horses have been on close watch for the last two weeks since the fire started and are recovering, however we did loose another mare this morning due to failure to recover and thrive after the stress of the evacuation, Mystique a senior 26 year(approx) beautiful mare.

Fleet of Angels and your generous emergency disaster relief donations, to assist our rescue with feed hay and vet expenses, helped our rescue and our horses to ease our recovery process and focus on the care and recovery of our precious equines. Our horses truly are resilient and you all at Fleet of Angels were true angels for our horses and our rescue in this great time of need.

Your donations allowed us to purchase high quality hay and grain as well as much needed minor vet care and medications that were lost during the evacuation due to heat exposure.
