APOPO is a charity I am happy to donate to. Not only do they make the world a better place by clearing hidden landmines so that people can safely traverse the fields around them, they also reduce the chance of people unknowingly suffering from and spreading tuberculosis. APOPO's original ingenuity in thinking of using Gambian pouched rats and their amazing sense of smell for such disparate projects is amazing, as is the organization's obvious compassion for both the people they help and in their deep love in caring for the animals that perform these amazing services to mankind. APOPO's communications are top-notch...never too many bombarding you, never so few you forget about them. Short, succinct, packed full of useful and INTERESTING information instead of the annoying hard sell tactics you find in so many places. I look FORWARD to reading their informative emails when they arrive and often find myself making an extra donation because of their innovative and light-hearted fund-raising methods. (We have multiple plush "Hero Rats", have given romantic dinners to encourage their breeding program and have given multiple Hero Rats to first responders and others.
