I just returned from a service trip with Xela Aid/Local Hope. I didn’t want to come home and I can’t wait to go back!
The trip was exceptionally well organized with a great introduction to Guatemala and Mayan history/current culture. Immersion into the village we served was immensely gratifying. Honestly, I came away with far more than I gave. The food was 5 star as were the accommodations and activities. One of the experiences I didn’t expect was how well our group bonded; interesting people, like minded and tons of fun.
We ended our trip at Casa del Mundo on Lake Atitlan, a beautiful cliffside hotel with stunning views of 3 volcanos.
Our trip leaders kept us well informed and were very knowledgeable. I felt safe and cared for.
I’d give this group and this trip 10 stars if the space allowed.
