I recently joined as a volunteer for Mickaboo and I have learned so much in just the short time I’ve been working with people of this non-profit. One of the things that I’m really inspired by is how dedicated each of the volunteers are and how their passion for parrots has them going above and beyond! Mickaboo’s vetting process does its best to ensure that their birds are going to good homes as adoptees or fosters. With that in place, the birds are truly taken care of in their foster homes until they are adopted! During the adoption process, Mickaboo tries to ensure that the bird and human chose each other. Potential adopters have the opportunity to visit the parrot and get to know it while the parrot also has the opportunity to pick its potential forever home. Lastly, I think it’s very noble that Mickaboo will always take back a bird incase life situations change for adopters or fosters where they may no longer be able to care for their feathered companions.

I have learned what it really means by the phrase “adopt don’t shop” and as a foster parent myself (with 6 of my own parrots) - we do strive to take best care of these birds till they land in their forever homes as this organization is supported by crazy parrot people.
