Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA
I've been coming to the Animal Park since 2022. I started as a visitor before becoming a volunteer and lifetime adopter. Currently, I assist with preparing the diets for the smaller animals. Seeing how specific each animal's diet is (even if they're the same species) affirms what I've felt about the Animal Park since day one. This is a wildlife facility that gets it right.
This is a facility you can trust. In an ideal world, all animals would be free to live in their natural habitats. But due to climate change, poaching, cub petting, and other human-based interferences, we don't live in an ideal world. And too often, wildlife suffers because of it. And sadly, humans further exploit these animals by putting them in roadside zoos or mismanaged facilities.
But at the Animal Park, the care and well-being of the animals comes before anything else. Each animal receives regular enrichment and vet visits. They are only on the tour path if they aren't stressed by people (meaning the Animal Park takes care of animals that you don't see as a visitor).
There are staff and volunteers who have been with the Park for years. Meaning the information they possess is insightful and valuable.
And what I value most of all is the Park's transparency. The tour guides are happy to answer any questions about the animals' care and backstories (they all have one). That should instill your trust that this is a wildlife facility that gets it right.
There are so many ways to experience the Park throughout the year. I encourage you to check them out and book a visit to see the wonder for yourself.
