We first discovered Viva by attending their Pride event. When we arrived, I was still talking myself into feeling safe enough to go to a Pride event in our conservative area, especially with our baby. As we pulled up, there were two teenagers who had left the event and were waiting to be picked up. One of the volunteers came out to thank them for coming, congratulate them on being a part of their first Pride event, and to let them know there is always space for them here. 

That interaction flooded me with so much pride and excitement and peace, and from that moment until we left Viva was the most real, safe, unfiltered joy, authenticity, and community I have ever felt.

The event was organized, accessible, and fun, the volunteers and attendees were warm, knowledgeable, and passionate, and the animals and grounds were absolutely enchanting.

The space and work Viva is doing is saving so many lives (both animal and human) and making a monumental impact, and is just generally rad. I can’t wait to spend more time here.
