I have been incredibly inspired by my interactions with the people who work for and volunteer with ATOU!

I was originally introduced to ATOU many years ago and worked for the organization for a short period of time. I enjoyed organizing and participating in inclusive social events that ATOU hosted through their Youth FORCE (Friends Offering Respect Creating Empowerment). I also enjoyed helping others come to a deeper understanding about what it might be like to live with an invisible disability while facilitating the invisible disability activities which are part of the hands on portion of the program/presentation.

I returned to a classroom teaching job following my work with ATOU but have continued in a volunteer role.
This year I had the privilege of experiencing the two-part program with my 3rd grade class. Up to this point I had never had an opportunity to experience the program as a consumer and while I was intimately familiar with the program I experienced it in such new and exciting ways by participating right alongside of my students. Following the program my class had such thoughtful and thought provoking discussions and really the effects of less "bullying" and more inclusiveness were long lasting throughout our classroom community in large part because of what my students experienced through ATOU.

I highly recommend this incredible nonprofit! It's a great place to volunteer and it's an eye opening, life changing experience to participate in the workshops!
