In 2017, as part of my Master's in Development Practice at the University of Minnesota, I conducted a needs assessment for Educate Tanzania’s Rural Opportunity (ROC) Center. This experience highlighted the organization’s deep commitment to the dreams and aspirations of the Karagwe community.

Educate Tanzania truly listens to the people it serves, shaping programs around their needs and desires. The ROC Center is a prime example, developed through extensive engagement with community members to ensure it aligns with their vision.

Seeing the ROC Center's work come to life is incredibly exciting. It represents what can be achieved when an organization genuinely invests in understanding and supporting a community. The programs are innovative, practical, and tailored to foster sustainable development in Karagwe, Tanzania.

As an evaluator, it’s gratifying to see the community's voices honored and acted upon. This dedication is rare in non-profit work, where initial community input often gets lost. Educate Tanzania stands out by consistently keeping the community’s needs at the forefront.
