I have been giving money to Heifer International for years. Some years I directed the money to be spent internationally (Llamas, alpacas, chickens, bees). Other years, I directed the money to go to American farmers. In December 2023 I made a $100 donation to American farmers. In March 2024 I received an email from Christy Moore telling me my money was on its way to UGANDA. Alarmed, I reached out to Heifer and explained that my contribution was supposed to go to American farmers. "Jake" responded saying that $100 was being sent to American farmers. Today, 5/30/24, I received another email from Christy Moore: "I have big news: After months of giddy anticipation, preparation and training, a family in Uganda received your gift — and they haven’t stopped celebrating since!" Apparently, my donation did not go to American farmers after all.

I now question whether any donation I previously made ever went where I intended. I will never give another cent to this organization.
