Review for Sanctuary One, Jacksonville, OR, USA
Our eldest daughter recently visited us from the Seattle area with her two young sons. She had always wanted to visit Sanctuary One and so I called them and requested a tour. The young woman in charge of the animal adoptions (Colleen) was exceptionally helpful and friendly and met us at the gate. The entire atmosphere was very welcoming , and although we could tell she had many other thingsneeded to attend to, she was so affable and present and made us feel very special.
When one steps onto this farm property you notice the care and commitment of the entire team. We first visited the Dog cottage /kennels that houses the animals that have been rescued and are awaiting adoption. Colleen takes detailed and very great care to see that they are placed in the best possible homes.
We walked over to the feline cottage where the boys were allowed into a cat play area to pet and interact with the cats there. Afterwards we visited the beautiful barn on the property and they were in awe of the pig and several friendly goats and horses.
I am a retired Fine Arts educator at a school eight miles down river from this non-profit. I recall the students that interacted with the educational volunteer program as having very meaningful experiences at Sanctuary One.
Our valley is indeed very fortunate to have a jewel like this in the area. I understand that the community garden they have on site contributed to several food shelters in nearby Medford, OR.
Spending time at the farm begs you to let go of all your devices, pet and love on the many animals present there and celebrate this rescue that is providing a second chance for these animals in need.
I highly recommend a tour to this great facility and bring others with you and relish in the beauty of this very unique Sanctuary in our Applegate Valley!
iI will cause you to pause and breathe a little slower...
Respectfully submitted,
