Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
I, Abdulai Ussif, a third year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University for Development
Studies (UDS) in Ghana, have been so grateful since Educational Pathways International (EPI)
Scholarship came into my life. I was a mindless wanderer stuck between the past and future at
the University (first year of studies), since my financial struggles overwhelmed the drive for
achieving my goals as a student and which could have definitely affect my future goals. As a
results of EPI Scholarship, I am able to purchase all my basic needs both for my education and
personal life, including Books, Laptop, accommodation, tuition fees and foodstuffs. With the
help of this Scholarship, internships, third trimester field practical at the Hospital and also online
studies like watching youtube tutorials and others are made easy for me .The support I get from
this Scholarship also impacts me with courage to always go back to my community Junior High
and other junior high schools during vacations to educate the students.
In actual fact, studying to become a Pharmacists became my topmost dream since 2019-2020,
during my first year of studies at the High School (Tamale Islamic Senior High School).Having
this dream in mind was as a result of the persistence of covid-19 pandemic. But holding on to it
and making it my topmost goal triggered when I got to know that pharmacists are well fitted
when it comes to drug discovery and manufacturing of drugs, including vaccines. Since 2018 till
date I made a point to always make sure that all the final year students at the Junior High School
(Garizegu R/C JHS) are able to move to the next level, which is the High School by organizing a
very serious free classes for them. Also, I do same to the final year students at the high school.
However, as a young graduated Pharmacist, I will make sure that my community and Ghana as a
whole gain my maximum impact, by empowering the youth, since the future of the county lies in
the hands of the youth. I will do this by providing my community with an adequate knowledge
on how medications are used, since a lot of them as at now are involved in substance abuse. In
fact, I tried speaking to some of my community members on why they should stop abusing drugs
and also the proper usage of drugs, although it is always hard doing it alone.
I’ve gained motivation to keep on with the extra classes I offer junior high students during long
vacations, maybe with this there will be low school dropout in my community, since school
dropout contributes most in substance or drugs abuse. Also, since I know how hard it is to be
well educated due to financial difficulties. As a result of this I would try my possible best (if I am
able to) to support the young financially in the future.
My profound appreciations goes to Educational Pathways International (EPI) for their full
support in my education. And I would say without EPI I would have continue being a mindless
wanderer, stuck between the past and future. A very big thanks to EPI for coming into my life
and making me to have a focused mind towards the future. Thanks once again
