Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
I am Timothy Rezon Gambo, a second year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Ghana and a beneficiary of Educational Pathways International (EPI). I was awarded this scholarship last year (2023) in March during my first semester in the first year. My life has undergone unimaginable and immense transformation ever since I was awarded the scholarship. The impact of this scholarship program in my life has been an exceptional one. Apart from diminishing the monetary burden of seeking after higher education, it has also given me pathways to development in different areas of my life. The EPI program has provided me with invaluable support, advice and resources, allowing me to connect with influential people, develop the skills I need, and exceed my own expectations. These standards have given me confidence and determination to strive for excellence. I chose to read Biomedical engineering as an undergraduate program because it aligns with my dreams and aspirations as a passionate med-tech enthusiast. I aspire to revolutionize medicine through technology to improve healthcare by developing machines to facilitate proper diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the medical space. Biomedical engineering has several fields but after school I intend to further my education in a reputable graduate institution to read (tissue and genetic-engineering) and/or bio- instrumentation which are fields in biomedical engineering, where tissue and genetic-engineering deals with the manipulation of animal stem cells and genetic materials to generate viable organs and hybrid organisms for medical purposes. Tissue engineering is not highly practiced in Ghana, as a result people with severe medical conditions like kidney failure and blood cancer die because they are unable to afford the cost of an organ transplant. In the near future I intend to use the knowledge I acquire to engineer organs from a patient’s own body cells. My work could pave the way for accessible regenerative therapies, enhancing the quality of life for many and potentially decreasing mortality rates linked to conditions that are currently untreated due to economic constraints. Lastly, I thank the entire team at Educational Pathways International for their generosity and support. Their investment in my education has immensely motivated me, and I promise to make the most of this opportunity. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and using my education to contribute meaningfully to society and Ghana.
