Arts of Life offers an amazing community and studio space for its 60+ artists. The art and artists are one of a kind. They are a one-of-a-kind community that advocates for and provides services to artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Arts of Life is a leading example of what a progressive studio can be, providing them with an equitable arts community. The artists have autonomy and independence. They can be leaders within their community space and are given direction over the studio. Arts of Life maximizes opportunities for self-direction through its collective decision-making model. I have had the privilege of being with Arts of Life for 8+ years. It has been an enriching time being a part of the AofL community.
