Review for The Andrew Goodman Foundation Inc., New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I would like to highlight one of the on-campus jobs my university offers for its students. The Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassador is a job on campus which allows its hired students to pursue their passion to make a change in our democracy all while getting invaluable experience. Ambassadors have the chance to host civic engagement events on campus, work with local nonprofit organizations, volunteer on campus and in the community, and actively encourage students to vote and participate in politics. As a result, being an Ambassador brings political experience and opportunities that no other part-time job can, and is an an outlet for my political passion while I am still in college.

In fact, I never see my AGF job as a grind, but rather simply as a form of civic engagement. My former boss, who was once a candidate for state representative, knew firsthand what it was like to be in a campaign and election, and supported me all the way in my own political journey. As a student government representative as well, I’m allowed to integrate my SGA initiatives with the duties of my job, particularly when I encourage the student body to register to vote or advocate for constituents if they face challenges to their voting rights. I am grateful to have a part-time job where I love my work so much.
