Mended Hearts, Inc. is a flexible and innovative Organization. As the Covid Pandemic swept through the US, the BOD shut down the in-person visiting of Hospital Patients and our Chapter Meetings as they could expose members, and patients to the Covid virus. The program and leadership team adopted ZOOM as a platform for meetings as well as visiting. Dedicated MHI iPads with covers for disinfection was provided to hospitals with cardiac educational materials and a link to request virtual or telephone support. A visitor “Heart-line” to get support and schedule visits for the patients. Also a program was developed “Follow Me Home” consisting of 8 weekly emails and 4 biweekly telephone/Zoom visits with an accredited Visitor, following hospital discharge.
