As evident from the reviews, it is clear how much SOMACC provides for our children. Our experience is a bit more personal. About a year ago, my husband and I noticed that our son (now in the toddler class) was not meeting his communication milestones. A professional evaluation led to a diagnosis of Speech Delay. We sought help immediately through the resources that SOMACC offered, but to our dismay (due to the short supply of speech therapists in the city), we had to wait indefinitely (several months) to be paired with a speech therapist. Inevitably, we became very concerned that the developmental gap would widen between our son and his peers. In the meantime, my husband and did our best at home to help encourage our son's language by being resourceful and accessing any materials that would teach us tools. However, it was the additional attention and support given to him by our son's teachers that motivated him to speak, even more. They would also send us video clips of his progress and keep track of each new word he spoke. We are happy to report that our son's speech development is now age-appropriate, and even excelling! Thank you to the teachers, who stood beside us throughout this journey. And thank you to the administration and staff for always making our family feel like a part of theirs.
