Assistance League of Greater Wilmington (ALGW) is an OUTSTANDING ALL volunteer organization with NO paid staff of dedicated, hard working, compassionate women who go above and beyond to help those in need by making positive differences in the lives of so many. ALGW serves those in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender Counties. ALGW transforms lives and strengthens communities by offering 9 different community philanthropic and school philanthropic programs. We have returned 79% of our funds to the community, served over 40,000 people in 2024-2025 and provided over 32,000 volunteer service hours.
It's a great organization doing so much to help so many and I am truly honored to be part of this amazing and caring organization.

I have been a member of the Assistance League of Greater Wilmington since 2023 and it has been pure JOY! This ALL volunteer organization exists for the sole purpose of truly making a difference in the lives of so many in Brunswick, New Hanover & Pender Counties in the Wilmington, NC area. We work to transform the lives of others by strengthening our communities. ALGW is a tremendous place to volunteer with so many opportunities to help the young and old alike. This group of over 150 creative, talented, passionate women always go above and beyond to help others in need. We have an incredible Thrift Shop that is completely donation based that generates tremendous funds for our philanthropic programs like Operation Seniors, which creates engaging activities for seniors & Operation Teddy Bear in which we donate Teddy bears to give comfort to people in distress. Our school programs provide clothes, hygiene items & school supplies to children in need. Our Links to Learning offers cash awards to educators to enhance curriculums. Our Snack Packs Program creates hundreds of bags of healthy snack packs for hungry children each month. The KnapSack program assembles backpacks filled with health supplies for school nurses. The Stand Out and Read (SOAR) program gives every 2nd & 3rd grader in our Operation School Bell Schools a book for summer reading. These programs are just to name a few as there are many others as well. There's truly a place to volunteer in an area that touches your heart. It's so wonderful seeing smiles on the faces of the young and old alike because of the kindness, caring & generosity of others! We welcome those that are interested in joining our amazing organization as the needs are so great and as they say, "It truly takes a village," and they also say "many hands make light work." We look forward to doing so many more great things in our community and the surrounding areas. The work is pure JOY!

The Assistance League of Greater Wilmington is an AWESOME group of very talented and dedicated women who are truly making an outstanding difference in their community. Their talents, time & treasures are beyond amazing serving the young, the old, and everyone in between. They care so much about giving back and want to be a positive force for change in Wilmington.

I have worked with non profit organizations for over 40+ years and this is truly one of the BEST because these women passionately care about people and the communities in which they live. They always go above and beyond in all that they do, with a smile on their face to lend a helping hand. It is such an honor and a blessing to be associated with such a dynamic and compassionate organization!

There are endless volunteer opportunities in ALGW and we are always looking for others to be part of our FANTASTIC organization. And most of all it's fun! The laughs, the friendships, the kindness and caring is exemplary! And we are truly making a positive difference to those we serve. It's the BEST!
