My first experience with Briggs Animal Adoption Center was in October 2008 after my first cat died. I wanted to adopt another cat or cats, and had heard good things about Briggs Animal Adoption Center. I visited the center and was given a tour by one of the adoption counselors. She was very familiar with all of the cats available for adoption, and described their personalities to help me make a decision. One of the cats (Wilson) was a male black cat, and I was told that he would be very mischievous, but also very affectionate. He was only 6 months old at the time. I decided to adopt him as well as a 4-month-old kitten (Fleck) because he gave me a really cute look and was very friendly. Wilson and Fleck were a huge part of my life for 15 years. Wilson's personality was exactly as the adoption counselor told me it would be. He wasn't as mischievous as he got older, but he got even more affectionate over the years. Fleck outlived Wilson by two years, and when he died in December 2023, I knew that I wanted to adopt my next cats from Briggs. My family visited there twice over a few weeks and we received the same level of help and guidance from our adoption counselor as I had 15 years earlier. We decided on two kittens, Bert & Ernie, to join our family and grow up with our two young sons (ages 8 and 6). I have always been impressed with the care that animals receive at Briggs prior to being adopted. The cats are all happy and healthy, and the adoption counselors are committed to finding the best fit for the animals and the adopters. I have recommended Briggs to numerous people since my first adopting experience with them, and I will continue to do so every chance I get.
