Review for truckersfinalmile.org, Albuquerque, NM, USA
On July 21, 2023, I received the worst news of my entire life. I live in PA, and the call came from a CT State Trooper. When he spoke the words "....your husband succumbed to his injuries...." I thought it was some sort of SCAM. I demanded to know the license plate number, make, model and color of the tractor. My heart was broken. My life destroyed. My husband, Ray had been driving truck for over 35 years! He was only 56 years old. My high school sweetheart, we had just celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. He was on his way home for a family event the following day, and he wanted to get home to spend some time with our first grandchild who was only 18 months old.
When the dust began to settle, and I had to start picking up pieces, making plans, and making decisions, a dear friend told me about truckersfinalmile.org. She had heard about it online.
I called, and I was surprised that Mr. Palm answered the phone himself. I gave him my details. He was so compassionate. I don't really recall exactly how it all proceeded. We exchanged phone numbers, email addresses. He told me the information he would need to verify the details.
My husband was the only source of income to our family. I was a stay at home Mom to our 4 children (ages 32 through 19) during our marriage. The financial assistance that truckersfinalmile provided was a gift beyond belief. They reimbursed transportation of my husband's body from CT to PA, embalming, several copies of the death certificate, and I can't recall what else. The funeral director was so impressed by the program, that he wants to advertise it on his website. Over $2100 was reimbursed to me, sent directly to the funeral home.
I am forever grateful for this financial assistance that Mr. Palm provided through truckersfinalmile.org. It's a wonderful program, for something that isn't even thought about. When I began reading the testimonials, I was overwhelmed. We just never thought that my husband would be killed in his truck. He was "invincible" in his truck.
We are still dealing with so much since my beloved husband's death. Truckersfinalmile made it a little easier.
Thank you.
