Review for Jerusalem Peacebuilders, Milford, CT, USA
The Jerusalem Peace-Builders program has truly been a transformative experience for me, offering a rare and invaluable opportunity for youth to engage in a profound exploration of peace and understanding. Over the course of two weeks, I had the privilege of connecting with teenagers from diverse religious and national backgrounds who are entrenched in conflict. This eye-opening journey was nothing short of inspiring.
What sets the Jerusalem Peace-Builders program apart is its ability to foster an environment where individuals, with deeply rooted political differences, can set aside their personal ideologies and recognize the shared humanity that unites us all. In a world where it seems increasingly difficult to imagine Jews, Muslims, and Christians forming lifelong friendships, JPB has successfully found a way to bring us together.
The power of dialogue takes center stage in this program, as we engage in meaningful conversations that transcend the barriers of religion and nationality. Through guided discussions and activities, we not only learned to express our perspectives but, more importantly, discovered how to listen and understand others. This emphasis on effective communication has made us more educated and open-minded young individuals, ready to contribute positively to the world.
A poignant quote from Father Nicholas encapsulates the ethos of the program: "Everyone wants to change the world, no one wants to change themselves." The Jerusalem Peace-Builders program is a testament to the profound impact that self-reflection and personal growth can have on fostering peace. By encouraging us to look beyond our differences and embrace our shared humanity, JPB has equipped us with the tools to become agents of positive change in our communities and beyond.
In essence, the Jerusalem Peace-Builders program is not just a journey; it's a life-altering experience that instills hope and inspiration. It goes beyond the surface of political conflicts, delving into the hearts and minds of individuals, cultivating a generation of young people who are not only educated and open but also empowered to make a difference in the world.
