I was denied adoption for a couple of reasons. First, my longtime vet has a one person office and is hard to reach. Second, they want a full two years of records for every animal in the house (is this an IRS audit?). Also, they want my healthy, strictly indoor cats to have a full battery of vaccinations and regular flea treatments. In other words, pump all my babies full of chemicals just to have the chance to adopt a dog. I didn’t balk at the $500 adoption fee since they are out of state, but I won’t jeopardize my current fur babies.
I adopted a malnourished kitten with parasites while on vacation and got it all the treatments it needed, so I don’t object when necessary. BFDR’s guidelines are so strict that it seems they don’t want to adopt out dogs at all.
